Today was our last day in Malaysia. I found a batik factory that allowed visitors to create their own piece. The boys painted their piece in half and hour and my scarf took Steve and I 2.5hrs to complete! It is quite a unique skill and it was fun to give it a go. I now have a beautiful piece of handmade Malaysia to take home and wear 😊
After that the boys were totally feral so we took them to maccas for lunch. We then walked to KLCC park to view the towers but we did not go up this time. Instead we went back to the hotel and had one final swim in the rooftop pool.
We took a grab to the airport (1 hour drive with grab for $30 AUD) and checked in for our 11pm flight.
It's been an awesome holiday, I'm sad its over. It must be time to start planning the next one 😉

Day 14 - Kuala Lumpur
After breakfast at Starbucks we set out at 10am and went to the Royal Selangor pewter factory. Malaysia had a tin boom back in the early 1800's and this factory is still owned by the family of the original founders. It was interesting to hear about the tin boom and to see the things they made. We then walked through the factory and saw all the workers making various pieces, it really is quite an art. The kids did a short workshop and got to bash some tin into a bowl and I did a workshop and made a pendant, bracelet and ring. It was lots of fun.
After lunch at the pewter factory we took a grab to Batu Caves and walked 273 steps up to the cave which was huge inside and contained hindu temples. It was very colourful and beautiful.
We then stood in the rain (the only rain we've had on this trip has been in KL) and caught a grab to Central Market for some shopping. You can imagine how fun that was with the boys! For those of you who receive shit or no presents you can blame them 🤣
We then took a grab back to the hotel but the traffic was so bad we decided to get out and walk (lucky it had stopped raining). The boys spied The Hard Rock restaurant on the way so we stopped there for dinner.
We arrived back at the hotel at 7.30pm and went straight to the pool.

Day 13 - Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur
Today we drove to Kuala Lumpur with our guide John. It took 2.5hrs to get there and in that time Steve managed to find a bar for he and Lockie to watch the Essendon game in so they were dropped off there while Charlie and I went to the hotel to check in. We are staying at the Platinum Suites and we have a spacious trendy 2 bedroom apartment for only $130 per night. The best thing about this hotel is that there is a pool on the 51st floor with views of the KL and Petronas towers, it's a surreal feeling being in that pool! Tonight Steve and I went to the bar on the top floor for a drink and then we all went out for dinner to a local food court nearby. It was raining and it was the closest one we could find. The food was good but it was sooo spicy so the boys didn't eat it. Instead they got bananas and donuts from 7 Eleven. We got back to the hotel at 9pm, checked out the spectacular rooftop view and called it a night.

Day 12 - Ipoh
Today we went to Lost World of Tambun theme park. It's not a huge theme park but it's got a bit of everything and is built against the rocky mountains which are spectacular themselves. The water slides were out first port of call and they were lots of fun! We then moved on to some rides, a small rollercoaster (probably the scariest I've been on because it was so old and rickety) swinging chairs (nearly made me spew) and pirate ship (we made Lockie take Charlie and Lockie nearly spewed). After that we had to sit in a shallow pool for a bit to cool down and stop spinning 😉 We then went to visit all the animals, my favourite were the Macau birds, and the boys got to feed a hippopotamus! In the evening we visited the luminous forest and the hot spring pools which were all lit up and just stunning 🤩 At 9pm we watched the fire show and it was absolutely amazing. The amount of kerosene (or whatever they put in their mouth) can not be good for you in the amounts those guys were doing! It seemed to go on forever and even Steve was into it because they were playing some pretty heavy music! It was definitely the highlight of the day. We arrived back at the room at 10pm and hit the hay 😴
