We walked to the Tiong Bahru market around 11 and had a look at the produce and then had lunch in the food court upstairs. There was sooo many food stalls and it was so cheap, I wanted to try everything but I cant eat much in the heat so all I had was roasted duck and rice for $3.50 and a piece of coconut cake for $1. We then walked back to the hotel and Charlie and I chilled out in the pool while Steve and Lock had a sleep.
At about 4pm we went to the River Safari which is part of Singapore Zoo. It was really quiet there and quite enjoyable despite the heat. The kids loved the river boat ride through the animals and walking through the monkey enclosure. My favourite were the pandas which were so cute!
In the hour between the River Safari closing and the Night Zoo opening we had dinner at KFC because it was the only place that had air conditioning. It seemed unusually quiet and then we realised we were waiting at the wrong entrance for the Night Safari. So we walked over to the correct entrance and found a huge line for the tram and the first Creatures of the Night show booked out. So we decided to walk the trails first and stop in the middle to see the lion feeding. After waiting around the lion enclosure for 15 mins in the stagnant still heat with sweat dripping down our backs we realized the feeding was only done on weekends. The kids were real impressed with that! We continued on the walk and got back to the front only to have missed the Creatures of the Night show again by 5 mins! But at least there was no line for the tram so we did that and by the time that was over we arrived back just in time for the last Creatures of the Night show. But the kids were tired by this time and we were soaked with sweat so we gave it a miss and caught a taxi back to the hotel. We arrived back just after 10pm and crashed out in bed.
